Residential Property Price Index in Nigeria: A Data Mining Approach

We employ the web-scraping technique and IMF residential property prices index methodology outlined in latest RPPI practical compilation guide to compute Nigeria’s Real Estate Price Index (RPPI). The data was scraped from one of largest real estate website Nigeria hosting ads online. A total 35,957 sales comprising 30,693 house 5,264 flat/apartment listing October 2021 2022 used for study. web scraping code implemented R-statistics get data. asking price other related information gotten overall its sub indices (for flats/apartments). findings present RPP national (total) sub-indices building (house) flat/apartment. While various sources generating computation have their advantages disadvantages, method provides a very timely approach, as can be almost immediately. This ensures policy decisions implementation also reduce cost survey tremendously if not totally. study recommends use generation ensure internationally acceptable standard compilation.
